Polish universities and high schools were closed down by the Germans during WWII throughout the 6 year occupation and clandestine teaching and studying were forbidden under death penalty. No books or newspapers appeared in Polish. And today we take these things for granted.

This is a shoelace stand. And for some strange reason they are located all over the city (every 3rd corner). Now this seems quite bizarre to me. I keep thinking, is there such a serious problem with Polish shoelaces that they either keep breaking or are being stolen that so many people say, "I think I'll sell shoelaces, yeah, we need more, right here"? 
After tackeling the usual tongue twister above, I was a little bewildered to find "Whinnie the Pooh Street". My family will tell you, I can't escape this bear.
